exchsrvr folder size
We have exchange 5.5 and yesterday I recieved a message that the "microsoft information store could not be started" etc. after a little research found this issue to be not enough hard disk space where exchange is installed. So I removed some folders that were not required and happily went on my way unitil,,,,,,,,,,,, today we have the same problem again. So I have worked out that around every hour the exchsrvr folder is increasing by 5mb, which at that rate of growth will see me out of disk space in 16 hours!!!!! ahhhh. So really my question is should the folder size be increasing at that rate, i.e is that normal or do I have problem here. Thanks in advance an Admin scratching his head.

Hi, Sounds like your backup system is not functioning. You should run a full backup of the exchange information store with an exchange aware backup program (such as ntbackup). This will purge the exchange transaction logs that are using all your disk space. Leif

Thanks Leif, yes the issue turned out to be log files which were at around ten gig. So I manually backed them up to reduce the size of the folder and all worked well.
