global address list modify exchange 2007
I was tasked to update the GAL or basically populate the fileds such as dept, phone numbers, reports to, etc. I was given a person to do the data entry , but am hesitant ablout this person getting into AD. Is there a tool I could
give her to edit the GAL without direct access to AD?
thanks

Hi,
GC hosts GAL. GAL is a collect of
basic attributes of all AD objects.
So editing GAL is same as editing AD attributes.
Using LDIFDE to Manipulate Mailbox Attributes

Using ADSI Edit to Edit Active Directory Attributes
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124152(EXCHG.65).aspx
No matter which tool you use, you are requied to be able to access GC.
GAL is stored in AD Schema database. If you want to edit GAL, you must have
schema admins group permission.
