having trouble setting permissions to public folders on the ESM
I appology if the same issue been posted before. I am having trouble setting permissions to public folders on the ESM. I cannot create sub folder on my public folder via Exchange System Manager and via Outlook2003. I receive the following error when I right clickand go into properties of specific public folders via ESM, "HTTP service used by Public Folders is not available, possible causes are that public stores are not mounted and the information store is not running".Error ID# is c1030af3. I have checked and make sure there is no issue as public stores are mounted and information store is running. Users can successfully access public folders by using Outlook2003 but not able to access by OWA. I have tried the following kb, not work for me. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/840182/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938610/en-us http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996098.aspx#Errorc1030af3 Ive tried dismount and mount the store, rebooting the back-end Exchange server, restarting the IIS on the back-end exchange server, and have tried Ensure that a proper authentication method is selected for the HTTP public virtual directory in ESM. Neither work. Here is my network spec: One Exchange2003+SP2 back-end server running on Windows2003std+SP2 (say ex1) One Exchange2003+SP2 front-end server running on Windows2003std+SP2 (say ex2) One domain controller running Windows2003std+SP2 (say dc) IIS6 running on all these servers. Trend is installed on Domain controller, and the Messaging Security Agent is installed on ex1 (back-end). All been setup as standard configuration based on Microsofts recommendation. Please help! If any further information I need to provide, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

I've seen this once. That time the"require 128 bits SSL" setting was set on the authentication tab of the virtual directories exadmin and public. These should Not be set. screen: http://www.spurius.nl/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/pf2.jpg Cheers, Mark

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate. When I open IIS on the back-end exchange server (ex1), the SSL is not set. (This is correct) However, under IIS on the front-end exchange server (ex2), the "require secure channel (SSL)" is required in order to have OWA and mobile device active sync work. The "require 128 bits SSL is not set under the "require secure channel (SSL)". (the settings seems to be OK and we dont have any issue on PDA activesync and outlook web access ) We have a certificate installed on the front-end server to secure the connection of OMA and smart phones to perform an ActiveSync with Exchange server. So the SSL must be enabled on the front-end server. I am get confused. The IIS is not work as the same way as ESM, since when I open ESM on both servers I get the same interface and settings on both servers. But both the front-end and the back-end exchange server have their own IIS installed so is there any specific settings I should take a look? Thanks again!
