help! help!! help!!! unable to install exchange server 2003
Hi everybody, I m trying to install exchange server 2003 on server 2003 r2 p2 but unable to do that. It gives an error "smtp component of microsoft iis is either not installed or disabled". I tried to install smtp using add/remove windows components, but it is not listed under IIS. Is there any other way to install smtp? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Isaac, Thank you for your reply, but as I mentioned earlier, smtp is not listed under add/remove windows components-application server-iis.

From KB 555030 http://support.microsoft.com/?id=555030 Method 1: Click the "Start" button, then "Run…" and type:regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\inetsrv\smtpsnap.dllAlternatively, %systemroot% can be replaced with the drive Windows Server 2003 is installed on Method 2: Uninstalling and re-installing IIS including the SMTP service has also proven to fix the problem, it is, however, recommended to try method 1 first. Hi, I suggest you try Santhosh's suggestions first. If the SMTP service is still not understand IIS, I suggest you write post in Windows Server forum to fix this issue first. We do need to install SMTP service firstly before installing Exchange 2003. windows Server forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/windowsserver/ Thanks, Elvis
