Hi Jeff,
The security warning is still available and enabled by default in Outlook 2010 (and Outlook 2013).
The registry key you mentioned will be created if you have unchecked the "Always warn before previewing this type of file" option, and clicked the "Preview file" button.
Feel free to let me know if there is anything un
That works for PDF files, but not for Word, Excel, Visio, or PowerPoint. All of the programs that are part of Office 2010 do not get a warning before previewing. Yes, that is the key for turning the warning off, but I was attempting to force it to ask by entering a 0 instead of a 1 in the PONTState value.
Is there a way to turn the warning on for those types of files?
Thanks
Same problem here, cannot find a way to enable the 'Always warn..' prompt for default Office Previewers in Win7/Off2k10.
Max, according to this Microsoft article http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/preview-attachments-HA010355566.aspx "By default, these attachment previewers are turned on." and no mention on how to enable the prompt, only to enabled or disabled the preview functionality. I tried using the key from a WinXP/Off2k10 intallation, where the warn prompts always shows on first use, but they won't work.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
VH
Is there a way to turn the warning on for those types of files?
Sorry, I haven't been able to find a way to turn the warning on for the previewers for Office attachments.
Hi,
Open each office application (Word, Excel, power point) and follow below steps :
Click file->Options->Trust Center->Trust center settings-> Protected view->uncheck "enable protected view for outlook attachments"-Click ok and reopen outlook.
Hope this helps
Thanks, but I'm trying to turn the warning on for previewing attachments from within outlook. The task sequence you sent is for turning OFF protected mode from within the different Office applications themselves. I did try your suggestion, but it had no affect on previewing attachments directly from the email in Outlook.
Thanks
To put what Max wrote another way, if one removes the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Previewers key that will enable the attachment warning for all previewers that Outlook supports; or to selectively enable a warning, remove a single key, HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Previewers\htm key for example.
Hope this helps! :)
