how to repair a .pst file?

Hello,

My colleague's Outlook pst file is corrupted and the file size is more than 17 GB. Scanpst.exe and PST Recovery Software could not recover the file. Is there any other way to repair it?

Best Regards,

Ammar Wasif

The Microsoft official only provide SCANPST solution to repair PST files. (We need to run the tool until no error reports)

If the personal information in PST is important enough, I recommand you go to the data recovery center for help.

Thanks.

Can I also recommend that you get your users to archive data into multiple pst files.... "all your eggs in one basket"

Do you not have a backup of a previous version of the file? Through a combination of both you might be able to recover data.

I had a pst corrupted file that stopped Outlook seeing really old emails, from a backup I was able to get all the old emails, and from the corrupoted I was able to get all the new emails - so from both I was able to recover everything

The only two ways to repair corrupt .pst file are SCANPST.EXE and a PST Recovery software. The .pst file seems to be severely corrupted therefore, SCANPST.EXE couldn't fix it. I have no idea that which recovery software was used to recover the file. As performance wise all third-party repair or recovery software are not similar. Some are effective and some are not. Therefore, it is always suggested to check demo or trial of the software first.

I would like to suggest SysInfoTools PST File Repair software here to repair corrupt .pst file and to recover maximum possible data from it. The software is available demo version, which can be freely downloaded from SysInfoTools' website.

Thanks.

The only two ways to repair corrupt .pst files are: SCANPST.EXE and a third-party PST recovery software.

I suggest to read the given blog on WordPress:

How to deal with a corrupt PST file of MS Outlook?

By reading this blog, you'll come to know how to use SCANPST.EXE to fix corrupt .pst files. Other than SCANPST.EXE there is one more solution to repair corrupt .pst files, which is PST repair software. You can search some advanced third-party PST repair or recovery software.

Thanks.
