iOS OWA fails after password change using Outlook in Office 365

Using OWA on ipad running latest iOS.  Outlook is in office365 running hybrid mode with our on premises exchange 2010/AD 2010

When I change my password, OWA for ipad stupidly just continuously fails to connect.  No prompt for a password, nothing.  there's no setting I can see to re-enter credentials, so I'm forced to go into the application settings and wipe everything.  once that's been done and I re-enter my details everything works as it should until my next password change.

Nobody else seems to be complaining about this though?  Is it just us?

As is, it's not an experience I can recommend to our general population!

additional: seems this is not just OWA for iPad.  standard iPad email seemed to do it last time too.

Hi Bob,

Please make sure the password is changed successfully. And we can access your mailbox from OWA for Windows in IE to check whether you can access it with new password.

Generally, when user updates his password via a browser (outside of the app or not as a result of warning by the app), due to password/authentication token caching mechanism, it may take some time for the app to prompt the user to enter that new password. At that time, you may try to close & restart the app to trigger it.

For more information about Password Expiration Scenario, please refer to the following article:

Thanks Winnie, but the password has changed successfully, as I can both access through OWA web AND using Android mail (android prompts for a new password).

I have also already tried restarting OWA iOS (and restarting the iPad) to no avail.

Hi Bob,

You should be ideally having the setting to re-enter credentials.

It is advisable to change your password in your phone after a few minutes of changing your email password, even if its not prompted by the phone.

To change password on iPhone\iPad:

1. Go to the Settings screen

2. Find the Mail, Contacts, Calendar menu

3. Choose the account you want to update the password "ActiveSync"

4. Select the Account menu

5. Change the password in the password field and click Done.

sorry, but this is not the answer to my problem.  It is a workaround to the symptoms of a problem and not even the one I'm having as I specifically say it's to do with OWA on ipad, not the built-in email.

Hi Bob,

It seems that the issue only happens in OWA for ipad but not for OWA for windows. Please have a test on another ipad to check whether you can access your mailbox with new password from OWA for ipad.

If you can access OWA from another ipad, the issue should be related to the local ipad. Please clear some caches in the ipad. If the issue persists, I suggest we can contact the Office 365 forum for more professional suggestions:

This happens to me every time, I delete the OWA app then reinstall and sign in again.

Hope it helps
