iPhone fun........
Hi, I have some iPhones to set up and have run into SMTP issues. The phone does IMAP fine (well maybe a bit less then fine but thatsa topic for a different day), but will not send backemail through my exchange server. It appears to be a relay/authentication issue but I cant find a way around it. My default SMTP authentication settings have the Anonymous Access box selected only, Relay is set to Only the list below. The list contains the private IP addresses of our copiers that are set up to end scanned emails to users. The box for Allow all computers which successfully of the list above is selected. I tried setting up a new SMTP connector and allowing his username to relay from the Users tab on the Relay restrictions page but that did not help. I am not using ISA and only have 1 2003 exchange server (no FE/BE configuration) I can see the iphone connects via IMAP port 993 and downloads mail, but it will not send mail back. On the iphone we have tried sending with and without credentials with no change. The only success we had was setting up a gmail account and sending out through there but the owner wants to send from his own work account. Any suggestions?

no, the screen has places to enter data like this: incoming IMAP: hostname------------ username------------ password------------ outgoing SMTP: hostname------------ username------------ password------------ but there is no way to tell it to actually use the credentails supplied for SMTP.
