mail bouncing from MY exchange (not theirs)
hi i have a strange problem. I have 2 Exchange servers, 1 receving mail for a domain, the other being prepped to recieve mail for a different domain. both are in the same AD domain and 1 office is a satelitte office. the main office is currently using linux for mail. When a user tries to send to a person at the other domain, it bounces back. What is wierd is that the remote domain is different than the sending, but the bounce back message shows that the sending mail server (exchange) bounced it. below is the message. Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: test Sent: 11/10/2008 10:31 AM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: jdsupport@dhmdesign.com on 11/10/2008 10:31 AM The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address. <mail.dhmcarbondale.com #5.1.1> as you can see, the message should bounce from mail.XYZ.com, not the local server. i have checked mailboxes are there are none for the users it bounces on on the exchange server. now, i know the remote IT guy was messing with exchange. i do have a smtp connector i set up a long time ago to send to them. i am stuck as to why it is bouncing. it ONLY bounces when i send to the domain listed above--users can send to all other email addresses fine. any help is appreciated.
