Exchange 2003 I moved a mailbox from one server to another last night and this morning the wizard said it was successful. I went to look and now it is showing on both servers. On the old server the mailbox size is only 97KB with 14 items and on the new server it shows 583,637KB with 105,637 items. As I said the wizard said it was successful and the user is currently using it just fine. Any idea as to why this would happen and more importantly how to fix it? The only thing to note is the user left their outlook open so the original server had these events during the move. 9660 (failed to log on because their mailbox is in the process of being moved) 1022 (logon failure on database....old database path) If I go through the wizard to move the mailbox it says its on the new server already. Also in the users AD account it also says it is on the new server Again any idea as to why this would happen and more importantly how to fix it?

Did you refresh the view on the old server?

If you mean hit refresh in the ESM then yes I have. I also closed it and reopened it, then opened it from my workstation and still see the same thing.

I attempted to move it back to the original server and got this message. "MSExchangeAdmin (9169) - "Failed to copy basic mailbox information. Error: A duplicate mailbox was found due to problems during a Move Mailbox procedure. The duplicate mailbox has been deleted. Try again later." The mailbox is working fine and I can't see it anymore on the original server. The thing I'm concerned about is what I found in this article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/252869 It says Exchange 5.5 so I'm not sure if I have anything to be worried about. Any ideas?

Did you ever fix this? I'm having the same issue when moving users between databases on the same 2007 server. The move says it is successful, but the old container is left behind, and after a database clean is moved to the disconnected items. Trying to move the mailbox back deletes the duplicate, and the original mailbox, in the the new database continues as normal.... Out of the 40 I've moved I'd say about 20 of them had this happen..
