mapi-connectivity failure alert from SCOM
Guys, For past 1 week, we are getting the mapi connectivity transaction failure alert in the SCOM. We have configured the Exchange 2007 Test Mapi Connectivty Alert in SCOM. This monitor Test MAPI Connectivity through the Test-MapiConnectivity cmdlet. Below is the error. Error Message - Some of the MAPI connectivity transactions failed. Detailed information: Target: System mailbox for DSVPWM14C\DSVPWM14C SG1\Dsvpwm14c SG1 DB1 Error: The transaction did not complete in the alotted time (20 seconds). ------------------------------------- But, all the exch 2007 services are running.I ran the test-mapiconnectivity manully without any issues. No related event logs found in the applcation log.No useful info in EXBPA logs How to find, what exactly this test is doing? is it actually performing some sort of synthetic transaction against the test mailbox. Or shall I tune up diagonastic logging level in the server? If so, for which identity I have to increase?ThanksFunnyghost

Its actually just running Test-MapiConnectivity :)I have sort of Love/Hate relationship with SCOM. Some of those alerts can be annoying at times. If you arent experiencing any problems, then I wuold hesitant to fix something that isnt broke.Did these suddenly start? Are they are at a certain time? That's where I would start. Do they go away if you restart the Ops Health service on the server? That sort of thing.

Hi, I recommend you to use http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/systemcenter to get relevant help. Besides, personally, I think you may try to run "Test-MAPIConnectivity -MonitoringContext:$true -PerConnectionTimeout:60 -AllConnectionsTimeout:90 debug verbose to get more information. Also I think you may check the relevant configure on the test-mapiconnectivity rule, if we have threshold settings. Please check what time the DTS task is scheduled to run? Please could you go thru this article http://support.microsoft.com/?id=899390 for your reference You also can check the availability of your mailbox server. Besides, please check the NIC driver and try to update it to latest. Regards, Xiu
