member of distribution group not showing as a member of the group
I have a distribution group that has 5 members. I can see all 5 members in the EMC. Whenever someone uses this distribution group 1 member never gets the email. If you expand the group in Outlook 2010 only 4 members show up. I have tried deleting and recreating the group several times. The missing member never shows up. All 5 of the members in this distribution group are contacts that point to the member's personal email. However the missing member also has a linked mailbox on the server. The linked mailbox is used for his regular duties. The contact is for sensitive information. The linked mailbox and contact have the same name but they have different aliases. The contacts for all 5 are hidden from Exchange address lists. Why is this 1 person always missing from the group? Could Outlook/Exchange be getting confused by the contact and linked mailbox? The server is Exchange 2010 SP2 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. Thanks,

I think the contact is mail enabled. It has a External Email Address of SMTP:user@sbcglobal.net (Email Addressess tab in the contact's properties). The contact is 1 of 38 contacts that is listed in the EMC (Recipient Configuration, Mail Contact). Thanks,

I think I have the answer but it leads to another question. If I hide the contact then he doesn't show up in the group and won't get the emails. If I unhide the contact then he shows up and gets his emails. So now the question is How can I hide the contact so the general users of the email server can get his personal email information, but the contact still be a member of the proper groups and receive his email. Thanks,

hi, >>> The contacts for all 5 are hidden from Exchange address lists. I have noticed that you say all 5 contacts are hidden from exchange address lists. So this isn't the reason i think. Otherwise the issue should be you can't see all 5 contacts in your outlook and they all can't receive messages. My suggestion is that you would better to try the test that i post above. I think your issue probably casued by the linked mailbox. hope can help you thanks,CastinLu TechNet Community Support
