Migrating from 5.5 directly to Exchange 2007 using native Exchange tools is not supported. Please see:http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/11/29/431687.aspxExchange 5.5 to Exchange 2007 mailbox migrationYou may want to hire a consultant for assistance.

You certainly do need another Exchange license if your plan is to havean Exchange server in both locations. If you just want to use oneother license. You need to refine your question, too. If you need help planning amigration you should engage a consultant. Your question doesn't reallystate what you're trying to do: upgrade from 5.5 to 2007 in onelocation, or upgrade from 5.5 to 2007 in one location and add anotherserver in some other location. Or upgrade from 5.5 to 2007 in onelocation and allow access to that location from another office. Or isit some combination of those?---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP---
