moving exchange server 2003 to a different locaton
We just meriged with another company our domain name will stay the same as we have now but our exchaneg will be moving to the other location and the server name will change as well as IP's my question is ont he client side once the server is back up with
the new name and we can ping the servers internal address at that location can I just reconfigure the client to see the new server name and will all the emails come up. thanks

Hi, it is not possible to an exchange server name. Even if you manage to change the server name you will run into many problems after that. You can do the swing migration instead. Follow the article

I see no real reason to change the Exchange Server name as it just that, a name. To change it will require a lot of work and unless there is some dire need to change it, I would leave it be. With virtualization, it does make a it a little easier
now to perform a migration of mailboxes, pf's, to new server with rename but it is still quite a bit of work but it can be done.MVP Exchange Server

Hello,
I agree with the friends above. After changing the server’s name, Exchange server will be down. The right solution is to build a new server and move mailbox/public
folder to the new server.
