Hi,
May I know more detailed information about your record process?
- Did you record a audio/video that embedded in the file or the narration by yourself?
- Was the audio no sound but the progress bar continued move forward? Or even couldn't work in Office 2010?
Then, as far as I know, to record narrations in PowerPoint, we will need a sound card and a standard microphone.
Try the following steps and check if it helps.
Before recording the narration, open Windows Sound Recorder. To open sound recorder, Click Start Accessories Sound Recorder and try recording something.
This is a problem faced when the microphone settings are not optimal - if Sound Recorder is able to record your voice, then there shouldnt be any problem recording the narration in PowerPoint.
If Sound Recorder fails to record, you may need to open your Play/Record Control Properties >double-click on the small speaker icon to the right of your Windows taskbar > In Control settings - choose Options - Properties from the menu - select the 'Recording' radio button and select OK - if your resultant Microphone options is de-selected, select that option.
If this doesn't work check if the connection to the microphone is fine and you can also check if you've installed the latest compatible drivers for your sound card
Next, if the all of the above things are working fine, please try the workaround.
Save the powerpoint as a 97-2003 powerpoint file.
Hope it's helpful.
