office database

I have a Mac Nook Pro with OS X 10.9.1 and have Office 2011 installed, this has been working fine until recently. All except the outlook part.

I now get a message when I turn my computer on hat says:

There is a problem with the Office database. To use the database, you must rebuild it using the Database Utility.

When I hit Rebuild I get the following message:

Rebuilding Main Identity - Step1 of 5 Scanning .... Your database could not be rebuilt. (-20997)

The it goes to to Microsoft Database utility and I select an identity and hit Rebuild again. This time it says:

To use the Database Utility, you must first quit all office applications.

I hit Quit All and go right back to:

Your database could not be rebuilt. (-20997)

Hi,

a better forum for your question, would be the dedicated Office-for-Mac forums, where there is a bigger Mac userbase to assist you.

A similar question to yours, is asked there:

Also, an MS KB article which may be helpful, is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2434440/en-au
