when I download the img flies in my windows 7 computer, they will not install the software.  In IE it just flashes a screen that is not visible.  When I open it in Google Chrome, it just save another copy of itself to downloads.

that's because an img file (as used in a software download) is not a picture, it's a disk image. Right click the download img file and then (in win 7) select mount the file.
