outlook password prompt on Exchange 2003
When trying to connect to my Exchange 2003 Server via POP3 I get a password prompt. I know the account is setup because I can login using OWA. I have used the full username (username@domain.com) and domain\username and neither works. I have a feeling it is some setting that I do not know about! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is the fullname the UserPrincpalName? In 2003, pop3 logons can be messy at times. Try domain\username\mailbox username = NT account name mailbox= alias

Simon, The 1st part of the test works (Log onto incoming mail server (POP3)) then I get this error; "Send test e-mail message: Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings.". I am using the login "domain\username". Thanks for your help. George

Yes I have tried the UserPrincpalname. I also tried domain\username\mailbox with no luck. I get the error "Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for additional assistance." I still feel like something in Exchange is not configured correctly. Thanks for your help, George

Hello, Please verify the authentication settings on the Exchange server by: Open ESM-> Administrative Group-> First Administrative Group-> Servers-> ServerName-> protocols-> POP3->Right Click Default POP3 Virtual Server-> Properties-> On the Access Tab->Click Authentication-> Make sure the authentication method you choose matches the settings on the clients. Thanks, Simon
