outlook users in cached mode cannot download Offline outlook address book
I am using outlook 2007. I followed the steps you suggested, and that all appears to be configured correctly. The database appears to reside on the proper server from the EMC. and if I go into the c:\program files\etc... I can see the lzx files. however clients still cannot download. when i run the command C:\Windows\system32>Get-OfflineAddressBook -Identity "Default Offline Address Book" | fl The operation couldn't be performed because object 'Default Offline Address Book' couldn't be found on 'domain_controller.domain.com'. + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Get-OfflineAddressBook], ManagementObjectNotFoundException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : FBEA0126,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.GetOfflineAddressBook

our exchange 2010 server is NOT a domain controller, but our exchange 2003 server was a domain controller.

Also, I created a new offline address book called 2010 Global address book, but that didn't seem to help. also, we have gotten insufficient memory errors overninght that crashed the backups since I added the new address book. At '8/3/2011 3:08:59 AM' the Exchange store database 'Public Folder Database 0481919148' copy on this server appears to have failed due to insufficient memory. The error returned by failover was "There is only one copy of this mailbox database (Public Folder Database 0481919148). Automatic recovery is not available.". For more detail about the failure, consult the Event log on the server for other "ExchangeStoreDb" events.

We migrated from exchange 2003 to exhcange 2010 with almost no problems. everything runs fine on one server, that holds all the roles, except unified communications which we arent using. The only problem seems to be that outlook clients in cached mode can't download the offline address book. They have the old version. If you turn off cached mode, they pull then new addresses from active directory, but they still fail to download the address book. I followed the article on windows it pro http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/exchange-server/migrating-from-exchange-server-2003-to-exchange-server-2010-a-small-organization-perspective I cannot update the offline address book in the public folders...I get an error: -------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft Exchange Error -------------------------------------------------------- Action 'Update Content' could not be performed on object 'OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK'. OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK Failed Error: Server 'servername' doesn't have a replica of public folder '\NON_IPM_SUBTREE\OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK'. Public folder content can be synchronized only from a server that has a replica of that public folder. ---------------------------------------------------- OK -------------------------------------------------------- We haven't fully uninstalled exchange from the 2003 server, but it has been shut off for months now. I dont want to pull anything over from the old server I just want to rebuild the offline address book in the public folers from the current global catalog so that outlook can pull it down. Any help would be appreciated

Hi, >C:\Windows\system32>Get-OfflineAddressBook -Identity "Default Offline Address Book" | fl The command could be: C:\Windows\system32>Get-OfflineAddressBook -Identity "Default Offline Address List" | fl 1. Now check DNS records and ensure that there is a Host (A) record for "Autodiscover" with the IP address of the Client Access Server. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232838(EXCHG.80).aspx 2. On the OL2K7 client, test E-mail Autoconfiguration... 3. Test-WebServicesConnectivity -ClientAccessServer CASserver If you get any error from the checking above please post here. Hi, What's the version of outlook you use? Check from EMC-> Organization Configuration -> Mailbox -> OAB -> Default OAB -> Generation Server is your 2010 server OR 2003 server ? if is 2003 server change to 2010 server. and tick all the check box in Distribution tab: version 2,3,4,web-based distribution, enable public folder distribution(outlook 2003) Run update check if the OAB is generated check from EMC-> Organization Configuration -> Mailbox ->Database Management ->select the database your mailbox reside on ->Properties ->Client Settings-> Offline address book is correct or not. http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/management-administration/offline-address-book-part2.html Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
