priv1.edb and priv1.stm are growing
mdbdata is located on a hard drive that is running out of disk space, the hard drive is a 70 GB and only has 1.77 GB left. I found out that the priv1.edb and priv1.stm are growing. I have deleted old mailbox also clear deleted items and archive emails on the users Outlook. Also change the deletion settings on the Limits Policy to 0 ran a online defrag set to run daily at 1:00 am but the hard drive keeps showing 1.77 GB of disk space. I cannot run an offline defrag because of the 110% disk space that I dont have, can anyone help?

The online defrag will delete items and mark space as available in the database but it wont actually shrink the database files, that would have to use ESE util. I would suggest either migrating to a different disk or adding a new disk, and create a new message store and move mailboxes to it. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328804Mark Morowczynski|MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP: Enterprise Support|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Hi,
I suggest you refer to following article to understand the Exchange Database Disk Consumption.

Please understand that only offline defrag will free whitespace in database.

Have you tried an Exchange aware backup to reduce logs?Andrew Sword, MVP
