public folder remove...
I'm moving everything to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2007. It looks like I don't really need public folders anymore since everyone is using Outlook 2007 or newer. So, I try to remove the public folder database following this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998329(EXCHG.80).aspx but
then I get this:
--------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Exchange Error
--------------------------------------------------------
The public folder database 'Public Folder Database' cannot be deleted.
Public Folder Database

Error:
The public folder database "OLDSERVER\Public Folder Storage Group\Public Folder Database" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database. For detailed instructions
about how to remove a public folder database, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=81409.

Do I just need to remove OLDSERVER from the list on the replication tab of each public folder under "System Public Folders" then try again?

Use the "removeallreplicas" script from the scripts directory, which will allow you to remove the replicas that are on that server. It will take a few hours for them to be removed.

I don't have "removeallreplicas". Do you mean "RemoveReplicaFromPFRecursive.ps1"? Is the proper syntax like this:
.\RemoveReplicaFromPFRecursive.ps1 -Server "OLDSERVER" -TopPublicFolder "\System Public Folders" -ServerToRemove "OLDSERVER"

Are you looking at Exchange 2010? Have you updated to Exchange 2010 SP1. I checked the script existed before I posted.

I'm trying to remove the replicas from my Exchange 2007 server.

Here is the way you can remove it easly (Keep in mind you should not play with this tool until or unless you are sure what you are doing)
Go to Adsiedit.msc...>Configuration..>Services...>Microsoft Exchange...>ORG...>Exchange Admin Group..>Database...>Public Folder Database, Delete the Public Folder Database you are trying to get rid off.

Surely there is a supported way to decomission public folders when moving from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010. Why can't I do what I originally asked? Open Public Folder Management Console on the Exchange 2007 server (OLDSERVER), expand "System
Public Folders" and for each folder that has a replica with OLDSERVER listed right-click the folder, choose properties, choose "Replication" tab, highlight the OLDSERVER replica, click the "X" then "OK".
I didn't think this was such a tough question, I guess everyone is taking the weekend off ;)
