It's not what I meant. I wanted to know ifit's possible toprevent user from permanently delete items from "recover deleted item" option.

So your question is to stop a user from deleting messages from the recover deleted items?
The user deletes a message and then deletes it from the recover deleted items.
Is the user complaining that he looses his messages?
He deleted the messages twice!
Why do you want to remove the option to delete messages from recover deleted items
Is this a compliance issue?

Sounds like a user is abusing e-mail, and hiding the fact by purging.
I would turn on the setting that is something like "Don't delete e-mailuntil backed up". Then, at least it is on tape.
Darn users, life would be so much easier without them. Since you wouldn't have a job.. and would just sit around wishing you had something to do...

Restore thebackup you made (before the email was permanently removed) to the RSGand recover it from there. If it's important that you keep a copy of all email then considerjournaling.---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP---

Timn9755 If you can't recover from "recover deleted item" in outlook You need to create RSG and then restore it from tape.Vinod

While Deli sure enough is perfectly right, here is some updated information that we use.
Deleted items are not available after you use "Recover Deleted Items" in Outlook 2003
(886205) - Explains the behavior that occurs after you use "Recover Deleted Items" in Outlook 2003. You have to add a registry entry to recover your deleted items when you use remote procedure call (RPC) over HTTP with the "Recover Deleted Items" option.

How can I recover items that I have "hard deleted" in Outlook?
(246153) - Describes how to recover items that are permanently deleted instead of being moved to the Deleted Items folder in Outlook (hard deleted items). You can recover hard deleted items from the Exchange computer if it is configured to retain deleted items.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/246153/en-us
Deploying it via Group Policy: Either deploy a .reg file or convert that to a policy template
Then theres Deleted Item Recovery in OWA (However, we have not explored this feature thoroughly enough yet).
On the Exchange side (here I assume its Exchange 2007) at least we did some thinking and calculations.
Deleted Item Retention Window (Days): on Exchange 2007 the default is 14 days, on SBS 2008 its 30 days.
You should use this tool to get some ideas about the overhead:

I am sorry. I still haven't found the same answer the first person that started this discussion is looking for. I have a user that we think is breaking the rules of the company so they are deleting items and then goes to the Recover Email and purge the email. I want them as well to not have the rights to do that, and I want to see if you can recover it.
