restoring a mailbox

Hi and thank you all,

I am using Exchange 2007, and backup exec 2014. I need to restore a mailbox which has been deleted. Backup exec is asking me to install Mapi and Collaboration Data Object to be able to restore individual mailboxes. No matter how many times I install it, it keeps on saying the same. I am downloading it from the Microsoft internet site.

So I restored a whole EDB file to another server, but I am not able to mount it so that I can Access the mailbox. I have an error "Unable to mount database (hr=0x80004005, ec=1276)

I would like any of this to work, so I can Access the deleted mailbox.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

David.

First thing you should do is run eseutil with the /mh switch to check if the database is in a clean or dirty shutdown?

Once you that you can go through that article above to check the log files and play the required log files.

Please follow this helpful article that covers all the required aspects and will help you to restore the mailbox database back into previous format : Getting an Exchange Database into a Clean Shutdown State using Eseutil

Moreover, if the issue still persist, I would suggest you to have a look on this automated solution (http://www.exchangeserverrecovery.com/) that helps to extract all the required mailbox data from available backup to restore them to live mailbox or into easily accessible pst format.

This error generally occurs when you remove log files, which has not been committed to the database yet. Each time when you will try to mount the store this error will occur.

To solve this issue, you need to move the transaction log files to a different folder. For this, follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Stop Information Store and all databases in the storage group.
2. Run esesutil /mh to Verify the integrity of database, followed by database name (for example, for Mailbox Store1 database, name is Mailbox Store1.edb). Examine the State value under its header information.
3. If the database is in Consistent state, you can safely remove all the transaction log file and save them to a different folder. But make sure you dont remove urrent transaction log file.
4.But if the database is in Dirty Shutdown state, restore database from the last online backup. In case backup is invalid, run eseutil /r command for soft recovery.

If this fails, you can run eseutil /p command for hard recovery or use any Exchange repair software : http://bit.ly/1KZSgIn
