rule not working - problem with 'subject' line
Outlook 2007. Server based mailbox (no local .pst) I create a rule for a series of emails in my inbox (right click mail listing, select 'rules', etc etc). Mail shows a subject line of 'SCN: blah, blah blah' When walking through the dialog to define the rule, the "Subject contains" field only has the 'blah, blah, blah'. It does not show the 'SCN:' Rule is to move the mail to a subfolder. If I override that and set 'Subject contains' to 'SCN:', it appears the rule never gets a positive match, as these emails remain unprocessed in my Inbox. The literal 'SCN:' is what I need to key off of, as the 'blah, blah, blah' is different for every email. I can't key just on the sender, as I get several catagories of mail from the same sender. They are differentiated by that first literal in the subject, which Outlook (or Exchange?) doesn't seem to recognize is there.

hi, My understand is that if you create a rule that subject contains only the key word:SCN:. Then it can't work, is it right? My suggestion is creating another rule such as subject contains to Test. Then send some message that its subject contains Test to the recipient. See if the rule still can't work. hope can help you thanks, CastinLu TechNet Community Support
