Is there any related event in the application log on the server? The symptom will occur if there’s other 32-bit application on the machine, even the windows server 2008 is 64bit. One instance is the 32-bit .Net framework, which cause the same issue Resources: Application Compatibility: Windows Vista 64-BitJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

sorry this has taken so long, i've tried to run it again on a newly installed 08 r2 box w/only the .net feature installed and am still getting the same error.event viewer has only this event and its informational event in the app log 1109 source is Wow64 Emulation layer. The program or feature "\??\C:\Windows\Temp\ExchangeSetup\ExSetup.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.Mohamed wouldn't installing the .net from server manager via add feature install the 64 bit version?

Hi,Did you verify the location mentioned in the error i.e C:\Windows\Temp\ExchangeSetup\ExSetup.exe ???Try doing this:-1. Go to C:\Windows\Temp2. Rename or delete the folder ExchangeSetup.3. Run Setup /ps again.RegardsSujit

after clicking ok on the error popup all the files in the temp dir are deleted. The source files are directly downloaded off the Microsoft volume license site. There is no other choice but to download the 64bit version of exch2010. FYI my acct is a schema/enterprise and domain admin.

Its working downloaded the ISO again from MS and instead of copying the binaries to disk I ran the setup /ps from the iso directly and it works.
