sluggish/laggy exchange server 2003 enterprise
If anybody has any experience troubleshooting a slow server what steps were taken to fix the problem? This past week we've been having RPC latency's around 60ms and I'm not really sure whats causing the problem. Symantec backup exec and continuous protection server were the only recent additions that were made to the system. We've uninstalled continuous protection server because it was taken snapshots of the system every so often but that only boosted performance a little. It is still extremely slow. Any ideas, maybe take off backup exec?

There are a number of things that could cause reponse latency. One easy first step isto run the Exchange TroubleshootingAssistant (ExTRA) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4bdc1d6b-de34-4f1c-aeba-fed1256caf9a&DisplayLang=en This should lead you down the right path, if not please let us know.
