unable to download offline address book
Hi All,
I keep getting sync error "Microsoft Exchange Offline Address Book" 0x80190190 in Outlook 2007....I have CCR deployed.
On myactive node, if i go to c:\program files\microsoft\exchange server\exchangeoab , i have a folder that starts with "9ff9eccf........." and inside that folder i have a ton of lzx files.....
If i go to my hub transport server, and go into IIS Manager, and expand the Default Web Site, and click on my OAB directory, I see the same folder with the lzx
if i go to http://sea-cas1.mydomainname.com/oab , i get an HTTP 400 Bad Request....not sure if this is normal or not.
I also have an Outlook 2003 client that is having the same problem.
I am not sure how to resolve this issue
appreciate any assistance

Hi,
For the 2003 problem you need to have a public folder OAB - do you have that?
How is your OAB configured in your 2007 environment (distribution points etc)?
Any error messages during generation?

I have a public folder database under the Second Storage Group, and in the properties of the OAB, i have a checkmark for "enable public folder distribution" Do I need something else?
In the properties of the OAB under distribution, i have the following checked.
Client Support:
98 or later
2003 or later
2003 sp2 or later
then i have...
enable web distribution checked and my cas server is in the list
and the enable public folder distribution checked.
I don't see any errors, ty

I seemed to have solved the issue........I noticed if I performed the Get-Mailbox cmdlet and piped the output to a list, the Offline Address Book was blank, i then ran the Get-Mailbox | Set-Mailbox -offlineaddressbook 'default offline address book" and now it is working fine for both Outlook 2007 clients and Outlook 2003
I do havea biggerissue now.......whywas "offline address book" blank when i created the users???? If i create a new user now, its still blank

Hi Skeemz,
Please understand that the Offline Address Book (msExchUserOAB attribute) is blank by default. I would like to explain that the user will attempt to download the OAB associates to the MDB where the users mailbox is located.
Nevertheless, in some cases, the customer needs to host several domains in an Exchange Organization and he requires the groups of users can only see their specific address list. In that situation, we need to configure the msExchUserOAB attribute by using set-mailbox command if the different groups of users are in the same mailbox database.
Therefore, I suggest that you run the following command to check whether the Mailbox Database has been associated to a correct OAB:
Get-mailboxdatabase mailbox database identity |fl offlineaddressbook

Hi,
When i ran the above command, offlineaddressbook was blank. I then went into EMC and set it to use the default offline address book. I then created a new user and had no issue with them downloading the address book
thanks again
