upgrading windows server 2003 to 2008
Dears,
we have 3 domain controllers with 2003 windows server , and exchange 2007
we will upgrade to windows server 2008 and i am testing it .
after upgrade one of the server to 2008 (which has the exchange tab in the properties of the user) , it gives me an error when I open the properties of any user like the following
the specific module could not be found
facility: win32
id: c007007e
Microsoft active directory - exchange extension
and the snap in will not load and give error
the replication between DC's is working fine , and I think the problem is from the exchange tab in the ADUC
how can I fix it , and if I have to remove the exchange tab , how can I remove it without affecting the exchange environment !!!!
I appreciate your help
Thanks and Best Regards,

Hi,This issue can in most cases be resolved by following the below steps: - Log on to the respective Exchange 2007 Server- Click Start > Run and type Regedit- Drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Integration- Delete the key: 13F9F3AF-9463-4492-854A-191CCC441FDBTry again

Hi There, If you are able to see exchange tab in User's properties, it mean exchange 2003 management tool is installed on the server. Please uninstall the same. Exchange Tabs are the schema extensions when you install exchange 2003 and Exchange 2003 is not supported on Windows 2008 server. Thanks.

Hi Ramos,
First, please note it's not a supported scenario to upgrade the OS where Exchange lives. Upgrade DC to newer version is supported.
In Exchange 2007, by default, there is no Exchange tab in ADUC, I guess you ever install Exchange 2003 management tool before, right? The Exchange 2003 management tool is not compatible with Windows Server 2008, so the behavior you described is expected.
In order to fix the issue, we need to unregister the related dll file. Please run the following command:
regsvr32 /u \windows\system32\maildsmx.dll
If it fails, please try to register it and unregister it again. Then please test if the tab is removed.
Thanks,
Elvis

thanks for your help
yes we have upgraded from exchange 2003 to 2007 but i have no knowledge about 2003
whenever I unregister the dll file , the same error appears then it says theat the unregsiteration completed successfully
when I register the same error appears again then after it the following error "the module maildsmx.dll was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005"
Note: I found the maildsmx.dll in the Program Files\Excsrv\bin
is it ok to remove the Microsoft Exchange program from the add remove program !! will it affects the real exchange 2007 servers which are in other servers different than DC
Thanks

Hi Ramos,
Please register and unregister exchmem.dll and then check the issue. If the issue persists, please rename maildsmx.dll and exchmem.dll, then please test the issue again.
Thanks,
Elvis

Thanks for replying and sorry to be late
when I try to register or unregister the exchmem.dll , I have got this error
the module "exchmem.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllUnregisteredServer was not found
make sure that "exchmem.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and try again
and the problem still not solved
Thanks
