Go to the Recipient Update service, right click on that domain, do Update Now.Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:EMA 2K7,EDA Win 7,ES,SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Hi Mark,
Thanks very much for the prompt reply.
So it is just an updating issue? Deleting a user will remove them from GAL?
Best Regards, Anastas

Are you sure you're using the GAL and not the Offline Address Book
(OAB)? The OAB us usually updated only once each day, and the changes
are usually downloaded to the Outlook client when it first connects to
the mailbox.
If the OAB has been updated you can use Outlook's "Tools" menu to
download the OAB at any time.

Hi,
Additional information:
When running outlook in cached mode, Offline Address book will be used instead of GAL. You can run the outlook in online mode to check if the GAL is
display correctly:
1. Click Tools->Options->Mail setup tab->E-mail Accounts.
2. Highlight the outlook account, click Change.
3. Uncheck the "Use Cached Exchange mode" checkbox and restart the outlook.
4. Restart Outlook.
Do you still see the deleted user?

Thanks to everyone for their replies.
I am definitely using the GAL. The account did not appear in GAL today, so maybe there is some kind of delay?
Just to confirm then, deleting a user in AD will lead to their removal from GAL, and is a supported method of doing this?
Best Regards, Anastas

The "GAL" is just a view of the Active Directory exposed through NSPI.
Any delays are those introduced by the AD, not Exchange.

That's correct. But the AD has replication delays. Have you confirmed
that you don't have problems within the AD?
>and is a supported method of doing this?
Deleting an object from the AD is certainly supported.
