Hi,
As far as I know, when we open s shared file, the document creates a temp file (~$ file is the temp file which is a hidden file) in the same directory as the original file. Thus the document gets a temporary lock file. If we have no permission of deleting
or overwriting temp file in network, we try to open or save the shared file we will get an error message as File in use.
So if you open a file from network, you can find the temp file( you can find this temp file by showing hidden files. Folders, or drives in folder option) create in a folder with the same directory as the original file but not the local folder.
Hope its helpful.
