2003 SBS to 2008 r2
I have a client who has a SBS 2003 box. We are using Office 365 to host exchange. However we would still like to use this box as a file server and AD, DNS and DC. My idea is to backup the files onto a external device and then get server 2008 r2 standard or foundation and install from scratch on the same server. However my question is if I do that then create a new domain with the same name ie domain.local and re-add each computer to the domain will I be able to have the users have the same usernames and have their desktop be just like it was before. Basically can I trick the desktop into thinking that the new domain is the same since the username will stay the same as well? Thanks, John
