2008 tv tuner driver/hardware problem
Hello,I'm trying to build a file/print/media server with server 2008. I have a WinTV-PVR-150 tuner card in the system. The card is detected properly, the driver loads fine, everything looks good with the card. No conflicts or errors. But none of the PVR software that I have can communicate with the card. It sees it when I configure GBPVR (PVR Software), but when I try and use the program it says there's no card. Same with the in-box software for the card.Note: Everything worked fine in 2003.I have sent an email to the manufacturer about this and am waiting for a response.
But my question is, does 2008 function differently between hardware and software layers? Also wondering if anyone else has successfully had a tuner work with 2008...

Maybe you could look at the Windows Home Server 2008 product instead.

Home server might work, unfortunatly i don't have a copy... that and it kinda works a bit differently than 2008 (IE advanced tools and domain support). I'm also this using to learn the new features of 2008 Thank you for the thought though

I understand since I also use Windows Server 2008 as a client and when it no longer works I will be very sad indeed but I'm at least hoping that if enough issues are sorted out before the big day this month that it will serve to improve things in the future for all windows client operating systems.

The same problem, WS08x86. The newest wintv says it cannot access the tuner.

Hello,
I suspect that the manufacturer of the tuner card has not yet provided or published their updated device drivers for Windows Server 2008. Therefore, I would like to suggest that you contact the manufacturer to confirm whether the device drivers are (or will be) available to ensure the tuner card can work seamlessly with Windows Server 2008.

I did talk with the manufacturer, they stated that they do not support server products, which i'm fine with, but i'm kinda looking to find out what the difference is between how 2003 and 2008 HAL to application has changed. The driver loads, and the apps see it, they just can't use it.Does anyone know how HAL to user application interaction has changed and if there is a way to "revert"?

same problem here: TV tuner BDA drivers install sucessfully, but no app can access them (BuildGraph() and Connect() functions fail). Is there any way to integrate full BDA support into Server 2008? I mean Server 08 and Vista SP1 share the same code base afaik, so it should not be that much of a problem to merge these functions from vista..

Hiya guys,I'm having the same problem, tried 2 different tuners, looks like the problem is there's missing stuf on win 2008 as some guy are saying here http://blogs.msdn.com/vijaysk/archive/2008/02/11/using-windows-server-2008-as-a-super-desktop-os.aspx,I tryed registering some missing .ax files but some of them (kstvtune.ax ans some other kssomething) won't register properly, actually it still won't work :/Edit:I found that unregistering bdaplgin.ax on XP gives me the same error when running my dvb soft than win 2008, I registered this on 2008 but it didn't work, this .ax actually uses stuf from ksproxy.ax (one of those that won't register on 2008) ...

I have a similar problem however, I'll be approaching it a different way tonight and report on this tomorrow.Install Windows Server 2008 (Standard) OEMInstall drivers and enable Hyper-VInstall Window XP Pro SP3 as a virtualized OSInstall the TV Card software & Drivers in that environmentI think that should do the trick.
