Activating Windows Server 2008 R2?
Hey all. Dont know if this is the right place for this but. I got a copy of Windows Server 2008 R2 from Dreamspark, have not installed yet because im little unsure about something. I read here http://www.yourlifetech.com/2008/11/24/windows-server-2008-license-activation/ that you need authentication code to activate Windows Server 2008 R2 after installation? They only provide you with 1x product key to install? Anybody know how this is done?

Hi, after installation of operating system your Windows Server 2008 R2 will try to activate automatically if there is an internet connection. You don't need to reinsert product key. For specific assistance, please contact Microsoft DreamSpark for support. As I know, some Microsoft software on DreamSpark requires a license key (an activation key) to activate the software. If a license key is required, you’ll see a link for the license key download right next to the download link for the software bits on the software page. If you don’t see a license key download link, that means the license key is already embedded in the software and does not need to be downloaded separately. After installing Windows Server 2008 R2, you can press Win + Break combination keys to show System Properties, check if the Windows is activated at the bottom. If the operating system isn’t activated, please click Change product key, follow the wizard to input the license key you owned. If you encounter any activation problems during activating, please call Microsoft Activation Center for support.
