Admin user PC unlock
Hi, Is there a way to use the administrator credentials to unlock a PC thats been locked (intentionally or when forgotten to log off)? I know this was possbile to do in Windows XP, but I don't seem to be able to do it in Vista without holding down the power button, as there is no option to shut down etc either. We are running Vista Enterprise SP1. Is this a Group Policy thing? Many thanks, Dharmesh

You canclick the"Switch User" to get a new log-in screen. From this, you can opt to restart or shutdown the machine. Alternatively, you can login with an account having admin rights on the machine and force to logoff or close the other user's session using Sysinternals' PSSHUTDOWN (with the /L switch) or SHUTDOWN.EXE (with the /L switch).Regards,Salvador Manaois IIIMCSE MCSA CEH MCITP | Enterprise/Server AdminBytes & Badz : http://badzmanaois.blogspot.com

You can use Sysinternals' PSShutdown.exe or SHUTDOWN.exe to forcefully log off the currently logged on user.psshutdown -o -f \\remotehostshutdown /l /f \\remotehost Regards,Salvador Manaois III MCSE MCSA CEH MCITP | Enterprise/Server Admin Bytes & Badz : http://badzmanaois.blogspot.com
