Application poor performance
Hello, Our application is running 10 times slower on a server with more ram and processor than the test server. The servers are the same except for the number of cores and RAM. Also, the test box is SP0 and the other is SP1. Set ups: 8 core, 16GBRam SP0 Win 2K8 R2 32 core, 196GB Ram SP1 Win 2K8 R2 <- It's way slower on this one... The application is 32bit running in a 64bit envirnoment. Could something here be going wrong when it attempts to page for resource or something? Please help!?

I don’t believe this question is related to a migration. This forum is dedicated for migration related issues. If it is an application issue, please work with your application team or vendor. If your concern is more related to server, please post the question in the General Server forum - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winservergen/threads Santhosh Sivarajan | MCTS, MCSE (W2K3/W2K/NT4), MCSA (W2K3/W2K/MSG), CCNA, Network+| Houston, TX Blogs - http://blogs.sivarajan.com/ This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hiya, first of all you need to narrow it down where your problem lies. Basic performance monitoring should aid you in determening if there is a hardware related latency. If there is no hardware latency, then it can help to narrow down in which direction. If you see no signs of performance issues from performance monitor, you can dig down in the different layers of the application. - If its web based, database depedant etc.

Hi Billy I suggest to address this problem to MSDN forum here http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/categories In addition to the Performance Monitor that Jesper suggested, I would add Process Monitor and Proces Explorer from Sysinternals. Compare the behavior of application in test and target server. My guess is that for 32 bit application the increase of RAM need not cause the increase of performance. Application redesign to 64bit may bring positive effects. Regards Milos
