BitLocker Recovery Tab is missing within ADUC in RSAT
Hi, I have configured storing BitLocker recovery information into AD DS with GPO, and then I join a new computer into this domain, afterwards I enabled BitLocker drive encryption for a data drive on the new domain computer. Then, I verified the Bitlocker recovery information has been stored into AD DS by running "cscript Get-BitLockerRecoveryInfo.vbs" on client computer. However, it is not easy for our domain administrator logon the domain client to run the VB script. We want let domain user can view their BitLocker Revocery Password via BitLocker Recovery Password Viewer via RSAT on Windows 7. I have followed the instruction http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd875531(WS.10).aspx to try to find the BitLocker Recovery tab in ADUC via RSAT but fail to find. The tab is missing. Did anyone have the same issue? How can I let the BitLockery Recovery Tab appear? Thanks in advance. Hi, Please confirm if you have installed the Bitlocker Recovery Password Viewer tool. The tool is under the Remote Server Administration Tools\Feature Administration Tools\Bitlokcer Drive Encryption Administration Utilities. According to the information in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd759200.aspx, we need to install the tool on both client computer and DC. “One thing the article doesn't make clear, is that if you are running the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in on a Windows 7 client system to view BitLocker recovery information, the BitLocker Active Directory Recovery Password Viewer tool needs to be installed on both the client machine AND the Domain Controller before BitLocker data can be accessed. It is not enough to have the tool installed on the client machine you are running the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, you also have to have it installed on the DC the snap-in is connecting to” This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hi Joson, Thank you for the hint. After I turned on Bitlokcer Drive Encryption Administration Utilities on Windows 7 and then register BitLocker Recovery tab by running "regsrv32 BdeAducExt.dll", I can see the tab within Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in. Hi, Jason, I'm wondering how to get the BitLocker Drive Encryption Amin Utilities on a Windows 2003 DC. I wasn't planning to try to install RSAT there. Any direction you could give? Thanks, Dan
