Blue screen won't stay around long enough to read
I have been running Server 2008 for a little while now. Foolishly, I added an el cheapo IDE card, so I could copy files off some old hard drives. Windows requested the driver CD, and installed the drivers successfully. Then I went to reboot, in order to install the hard drives. There were a large number of updates that needed to be installed; the machine had been off for at least two weeks. These updates got installed as part of the shutdown. Nowthe machinewon't boot. When I boot in normal mode, I get a blue screen right after the scrolling bar and the Microsoft copyright line shows up. If I boot in safe mode, the blue screen appears right after the list of drivers that are loaded. In both cases the blue screen disappears after less than a second, and the machine restarts. So I can't tell what the error is.I can boot off the Windows Server 2008 DVD, and start a command window from the System Recovery Options. When I look at the C: drive, there is no Memory.dmp file to be found, nor is there any Minidump file. When I run wevtutil on the Application.evtx, System.evtx, HardwareEvents.evtx, or either of the Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-* files, I don't see any messages at all about the crash.Trying to change the values in HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\CrashControl doesn't do anything. It looks to me like regedit is manipulating a registry created by the DVD boot, not the one on the C: drive, and I don't know how to make it use the otherone. Is there a way of forcing regedit to use the files I want it to use?I got desperate, and tried removing the IDE drivers manually. Deleted all the *jraid* and *jgogo* files I could find. Deleted the directory that was created under C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository. Based on reading the lines in C:\Windows\System32\PerfStringBackup.INI, I deleted all the *oem7* files I could find. Still stuck with my blue screen. Is there any known problem with an Intel D975BX2 motherboard that makes it get mad about showing blue screens? Is there any boot option that might help?FWIW, the IDE card is a JMicron board. It might be part number JMBSATA2, but I can't find that on the board itself. The box just says "High Quality" in three different places...

Hi,
According to the description, we find it seems to be system crash issue and we need to analyze the crash dump file to narrow down the root cause of the issue. Unfortunately, it is not effective for us to debug the crash dump file here in the forum. Therefore, I would like to suggest that you contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:

Hope the issue will be resolved soon.

Vincent -As I said above, there was no crash dump file. WWCSSD?But anyway, I got the machine back. This morning I discovered reg.exe, which allowed me to load the registry file SYSTEM off the C: drive. I could then manipulate the correct registry entries using regedit. That allowed me to turn off AutoRestart in CrashControl, so that I could see what the blue screen said. It's a STOP 0x0000007B message.Armed with that knowledge, I poked around in MSDN & Technet, and realized that my manual driver removal couldn't have worked, because all I did was remove files, I didn't update any of the driver settings in the registry. When I went back and did that, the machine was recovered. There seems to be some trouble with my IDE card's CLSID overlapping one used by the motherboard RAID controller I boot from. I will fight with it some more, to see if I can get it working.- Rich
