Can't demote Domain Controller
I receive this error message when i try to demote my domain controller using the dcpromo command in cmd.
The operation failed because:
File replication services: The remote procedure call was cancelled.
"The remote procedure call was cancelled."

Have you check the eventlog or dcpromo.log for more information?

Try dcpromo /forceremoval

Hello Stuckfree,
If DC does not hold any FSMO roles, use a command (dcpromo /forceremoval)
suggested by Santosh.
Also one more thing, before demoting a DC make sure that transfer all roles to other DC/domain partner.
Moreover there will be one server which will hold at least DNS/PDC/GC

dcpromo.log error message:
Error - The Active Directory database failed to initialize (error -501). Check the event log for more information. (8200)
Failed to install the directory service (8200)
DsRolepFinishSysVolPropagation (Commit Demote) failed with 801
Can't find error message in event viewer relate Domain Controller Demotion
But the error mesage for Replication Service in event viewer:
The File Replication Services stopped without cleaning up

Where should i find FSMO roles, pDC roles, RID role, PDC emulator master role, Infrastructure master role, naming master role, scehma master role, to transfer?
There's no other forest domain in domain controller?

In a DC Start>Run>Cmd>netdom query fsmo ---->Command to know FSMO roles & their correspond DC or Refer "http://www.frickelsoft.net/blog/?p=188"
