Can users create custom views?
We're just starting to use the Service Manager Console to create Change Requests for the work we do at work. We have some basic views setup that everyone uses.
If users go in to try to edit a view or create a new view, they get errors that they don't have permission to do so.
Is it possible for user's to create their own custom views that are just for them versus views that are global and everyone sees? We'd like for people to be able to do this if they can but aren't sure how to set it up since no one here is overly experienced
with SCSM.
We don't want people to be able to go in and change the global views that everyone sees, but we'd like them to be able to create their own custom views that would be associated with their IDs if that's possible.
Can anyone assist me with figuring this out?
Thanks!

Through the security roles on the Admin tab, you can grant users permission to edit views under the tasks section. Additionally, you can grant who can see it under the views section in each particular role. However, I would advise against granting
users that permission as that view would then be applied to all users attached to that particular role.

So if a particular user needs a particular view for whatever reason, we'd have to have an admin go in and create e the view and then assign it just to that specific user? There's no way for a user to create their own view and have it attached just
to their own ID without giving them access to modify any view?
That sucks.

Not that I've seen yet. Since SCSM is using a role-based security model, the best you could do would be to create the view, add a role with only one permission, that view, and then add that user into the role's user list.

Only SCSM Admins and Authors can create views. And even then they are visible to everyone (or as scoped by user roles). There is no "My Workspace" concept in SCSM like there is in SCOM yet.

That's not related to your question (custom view), but *any* console user can create a 'custom notification' and this notification will only be available to the user who created/configured - this can be done in "Tools > My notifications"
