I know this question has been asked before. Though I am stuck on what to do next. The problem I am having is that on every machine in the network including the server I am getting the error MrxSmb The redirector failed to determine the connection type.. (full error posted below). This happens when accessing any unc paths. I have tried almost everything that I have found and nothing seems to be stopping the warnings appearing. I also spotted in the Microsoft windows network neighborhood I am only seeing 3 out of the 10 computers on the domain. This is happening with every computer. So I am looking for any one to suggest anything related that it could possibly be??? Thank You for your reply!!! There is no problem accessing any UNC Share over the network though i do sometime spot a slight lag even when accessing a UNC share that is on the server... How would i go about update mrxsmb.sys binaries

hi there, Lag is a different issue which might be related to network , switch , and the redirector from which a request is being processed , for eg: server service and workstation service are 2 major components involved in SMB communication ( SMB stands for server message block which is responsible for file sharing in windows ) the legacy is known as CIFS . i would recommend you to perform a complete system update either using WSUS / microsoft update server. and clear the logs and check if you still have the problem.i would also recommend you to update your NIc drivers.sainath Attending Microsoft Teched 2009

Thanks for thatI just ran a windows update on server and all workstations and installed all avaliable updates...and the mrxsmb warning is still appearing in the event viewer on workstations and serverwhat else could it be?
