Certificate services web enrollment issue?
Hi,I may be asking the impossible as this is a custom solution created by a recently departed colleague (he's not dead though!!). Essentially he copied and modified the default web enrollment site from certificate services and applied it toanother server where it offers just one particular certificate. My problem is that now I am unable to successfully request a certificate using this website. I receive the message below...Request Mode:
newreq - New Request Disposition: (never set) Disposition message: (none) Result: The RPC server is unavailable. 0x800706ba (WIN32: 1722) COM Error Info: CCertRequest::Submit: The RPC server is unavailable. 0x800706ba (WIN32: 1722) LastStatus: The RPC server is unavailable. 0x800706ba (WIN32: 1722) Suggested Cause: This error can occur if the Certification Authority Service has not been started. I can however go directly to the CA and request that same certificate, both from a client machine and the machine that hosts the custom site. The only change made recently is that we have changed our domain administrator password. I don't know IIS too well so is there anywhere within the site that is likely to contain credentials for the domain admin account?Has anyone created a similar custom web enrollment site who can offer assistance? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.PS - It's all running on Server 2008.

Can you check the file "certdat.inc"?It contains the machine name and ca name to contact. Are you sure it is correct? The error looks like IIS is trying to contact a ca that is not running or does not exist.Andrew

Yep it's all correct. I have been doing some testing and I may have found some problem with the firewall rules between the web front end and the CA. I am waiting on my FW administrator to take a look, hence I've not marked as answered yet. Thanks for your suggestion.
