Changing owner on a file WITHOUT owner!
Hi Everone,I'm logged in as Administrator on a Windows Server 2008 (Active Directory) and that Administrator belongs to the Administrators Group, so I have full control. If would change the owner on this file: security.config.cch.5176.341356426in the directory: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\CLR Security Config\v2.0.50727.312If opened the file-property on the security tab. The following text appears. To continue, you must be an administrative user with permission to view this object's security properties. Do you want to continue? I push the button Continue. A new window appears with a owner tab. Current owner: Unable to display current owner Change owner to: Administrator I push Apply or OK. Unable to set new owner on security.config.cch.5176.341356426 Access deniedI tried xcacls from the command line but it results to the same 'Access denied' error. What also happens is that the BITS Service is not startable. It returns with the error 80070005 (Access denied). So I can not use Windows Update.Even Share Point is not configurable. It returns the same error 'Access denied'.Any suggestions? Thanks, mdill

This file (security.config.cch.5176.341356426) is a security configuration file, you shouldn't be changing the permissions of that file.Security configuration files contain information about the code group hierarchy and permission sets associated with a policy level. It is strongly recommended that you use the .NET Framework Configuration tool (Mscorcfg.msc) or Code Access Security Policy tool (Caspol.exe) to modify security policy to ensure that policy changes do not corrupt the security configuration files. And see here for the BITS error:In the services.msc, locate the BITS service, and check if it's running under LocalSystem.Have you changed anything before these errors started to appear? Hi shadowman123Thank you for your response!BITS: Service is set to LocalSystem and all dependencies (COM+ Event System, RPC, DCOM SPL) are running. I think that BITS Service is OK, but something below that, most possibly that security file, that give all these errors.I started MSCORCFG.MSC but couldn't find anything useful to set the correct security. The other files in the same directory has rights for Administrator but the file security.config.cch.5176.341356426 does not. So I don't know how to set Administrator for this file.I installed some kbxxx Files and configured MSDTC and some other things I can't remember.
