Could this apply even though the error message isn't quite the same?
Hi,I have Server 2008 running that I downloaded from Dreamspark. I have been having 8E stop messages since I installed, almost at random. It's been thrown when I open a folder, and even when I've attempted to launch the Volume Mixer.I have recently found these two reports:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955044/en-ushttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/951954/en-usand they both say:"In this scenario, you receive a Stop error message that
resembles the following:STOP 0x0000008E
(parameter1, parameter2,
parameter3, parameter4)
KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED NotesThe parameters in this message may vary according to the
configuration of the computer. Not all "0x0000008E" Stop error messages are caused by this
problem."As you can see, my error message resembles the message, but doesn't mention a KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED message, or NtGdiBitBlt or win32k.sys as the reports mention:http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~jwexler/8E%20Stop%20Error.pngOne of those doesn't seem to apply to me at all cuz I am not using Terminal Services. The other post just says that if an application calls the NtGdiBitBlt
function within a .sys file, the error will be thrown...but it doesn't
say which applications, or how you'd know if an application tried to
access that function. I really hate the MS Support page. It says that
there's a hotfix available, and to ONLY use the hotfix if the situation
is what they posted, but they don't tell you how you'd know if that was
your problem. How can I tell if this is my problem? Finally, I just got it again and after this time, I got a "Windows Recovered From a Serious Error"
for the first time when I rebooted. If I click details, I get this:-------------------Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.272.7 Locale ID: 1033Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 1000008e BCP1: C0000005 BCP2: 81A2FB2A BCP3: 9B30F598 BCP4: 00000000 OS Version: 6_0_6001 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 272_3Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini110708-01.dmp C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-58203-0.sysdata.xml C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WER1DB4.tmp.version.txtRead our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=501...mp;clcid=0x0409---------------------------Thanks everyone. I sincerely apologize for any hint of apparent anger in my text. I am just a bit frustrated at all of this. Before having this message I was plagued by D1 and A stop errors that I finally found out were due to using the built in driver for my realtek onboard network interface. After updating with realtek's drivers, the problem went away. Thanks!Jordan
