DC PROMO
I have a windows 2003 server as my PDC the old DC is a win2k box and it is the replication partner for the new Win2K3 PDC. This old DC is dying . I have another Win2K3 server that I want to DC PROMO to take over as the replication partner. Where Do I launch this utility? the existing PDC or the new replication partenr ? I have to run Domain/forest Prep ? My domain functional level is Windows 2000 right now ..... is this to be changed also ?

Hello, please stick to your other thread, as that one contains the important information about the failed DC also: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverDS/thread/ca52c0e2-9a51-4518-ad02-761770c5dd09Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Meinolf....forgive me for not being a navigational wizard up here Iam trying to get into the groove...... the existing (old) Win2k server that serves as my Win2K3 PDC's replication partner .....it is not failing any thing so far except It is no longer covered for service by HP anymore It now has a tape cartridge stuck in the drive and will not eject it so it cannotbe backed up anymore the processor is peged at 55% utilization at all times all red flags indeed ....but it still replicates Thanks for you input .......BTW I alway indate I want alerted when someone replies......but I never see any alerts in my email
