DFS Read only member
Hi, just configured DFS between 2 windows 2008 R2 servers. both members of the domain.
when trying to right click one of them and choosing "Make Read Only" i only have the option available for one of them. (the one which i don't want to be read only..)
can anyone tell me why is that?
Thank You
Gil

What are you trying to set as Read Only exactly, can you show a screenshot of where you are stuck?
What is the reason behind trying to change this setting?

Can you disable it using the commandline tools, here is an article that discusses how to execute the correct command:

Hi,
Thanks for your posting.
Form the picture your provided, you can set read-only at the second member. So do you mean you want to configure read-only at the first member?
Maybe the first member is set as primary replication member; replicated folder cannot configured to be read-only on primary member. This is because authoritative copy of data must reside on a read-write member.
Seems you can use Dfsradmin command to specify a primary member for a replicated folder after replication is complete, DFS Replication does designate the server as a primary member in Active Directory Domain Services. Essentially, the server becomes a rouge
primary server, which can cause conflicts. For this reason, specify the primary member manually only if you are certain that the initial replication has irretrievably failed.
So I think if you can re-configure DFSR, then configure the second server as primary member.
