Data Protection Manager on server 2008
HiI'm having almost the same problem: I installed server 2008. I try to install Data Protection Manager but he needs the IIS first. So I add some rolles(Application Server, File Services, Network Policy/Access Sevices, Terminal Services,Web Server, Windows Deployment) After inserting the DPM CD it asks for the bootcd of windows server 2003 to find the CONVLOG.EX_.In the log there is written:"Execption: Could not find file: C:\windows\system32\..\iis6.log IIS6.0 has failed. All the changes that are made by the ISS are rolledback. Is it possible that DPM asks for iis6.0 but can't use the installed iis7.0Because I've checked if the iss7.0 is correctly installed, with "http://localhost" I get to the welcome page of iis7.0So, is DataProtectionManager 2006 compatible with the iis7.0?Thank you for your reply

The answer is to be found in the documentation to the product: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb808894.aspx
Snip:
The following are the System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM)2007 operating system requirements:
Windows Server2003 with Service Pack2 (SP2) or later.To download SP2 for Windows Server2003, see Windows Server2003 Service Pack2 (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=90633).
Caution
DPM is designed to run on a dedicated, single-purpose server that cannot be either a domain controller or an application server.
Windows Server2003R2 with SP2.
Windows Storage Server2003 with SP2.To obtain SP2 for Windows Storage Server2003 or Windows Storage Server2003 R2, contact your original equipment manufacturer.

I'm sorry to ask you again a "stupid" question but what does that line say? I'm not very famillar with everything about servers and those words...I guess it says, that I can't installed it on a server that is running and application server. But a domain controller? I have to uninstall the application server and the domain controller to install the Data Protection Manager?Thank you for your help

The server cannot have any other applications installed and it cannot be a domain controller. DPM only runs on the operating systems mentioned in the paragraph above.

So I have to create a new server 2008. (I'm doing everything in vmware) and add no roles... Then I should be able to install DPM?Edit: I made a new server 2008, tried to install DPM but it still asks for CD server 2003 SP1. When I insert the disk and press enter; I still got the same fault:
Execption: Could not find file: C:\windows\system32\..\iis6.log IIS6.0 has failed. All the changes that are made by the ISS are rolledback.
This time I didn't add roles of features. I didn't do anything...
Do you have another solution?

Yes, if you look at my first answer there's a list of operating systems supported. Windows Server 2008 is not in that list at the moment. You'll have to run any of the Windows 2003 versions listed for a supported configuration.

Ok but I thought because there was written "or later" I guessed it could be on server 2008 because this is also later than 2003... But allright I get it now. Thank you
