Descriptive name for network drives
Is it possible to give a network drive a descriptive name through the "net use" command? because net use I: "\\10.10.1.3\Shared_Folder" renders as "Shared Folder on 10.10.1.3" on my computer when executed by a logon script

No, but with GPP you can use the "label" section to change the displayMCP | MCTS 70-236: Exchange Server 2007, Configuring

Hi, Thank you for the post. As Yagmoth mentioned, you could use GPP or script to change the drive name. Please read two articles below. http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2009/01/07/using-group-policy-preferences-to-map-drives-based-on-group-membership.aspx http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/aced1cf8-bf97-4bff-ad92-9238a9706852 If there are more inquiries on this issue, please feel free to let us know. Hi All, I've tried setting the network drive in the group policy management just like you suggested but no matter how many time i have executed gpupdate /force and even restarted the computer, I am not able to see the mapped drive I have successfully mapped in the logon script prior. I already checked the shared permission of the shared path and is sure that the user logging in is a member of the allowed group in the shared permission. Am i missing another configuration that must be done?
