Disk Management error

When we click on the disk management option in windows server 2003 R2 SP2, we get an error that says unable to connect to the logical disk manager service.

Also after about 30 seconds of waiting for disk manager to load it throws a unspecified error.

The two logical disk manager services are started as well as the virtual disk. I checked all permissions on the DCOM properties and all looks good.

Please assist

Hi,

Thanks for your posting.

This problem can occur for either of the following reasons.
  • The Logical Disk Manger and the Virtual Disk Service are not running on the Local System Account
  • DCOM Permissions are incorrect under COM Security

Please take a look at this KB article:

Disk Management gives a "Unspecified Error" with "Unable to connect to Logical Disk Management Service"

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2023404

Hope this helps.

Regards.
