Error Installing Agent: ESENT Keys Required

I'm aware of another thread that discusses this error, but the solutions posted there haven't worked for us:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagergeneral/thread/def8d8b3-4ed0-4ebd-bf3e-d42e04752b7b/

This is a brand new agent install on one of my Exchange servers. I've tried running it as admin, running it from an elevated command line, and even turning off UAC & rebooting...I still get the following error:

"Microsoft ESENT keys are required to install this application. Please see the release notes for more information."

My installation "bits" are fine...I've used them on 70 other servers and this is the only one giving this error.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to resolve this? We would love to get this server under monitoring.

Thanks,

Donnie

I can only say what worked for me: log on locally with the "Adminstrator" account. So not an account with administrator priveliges, but the local Administrator account itself.

Hi,

The following article also discussed this issue. Please check if any suggestions on it will help:

Thanks for the assistance.

If I log in as local administrator and run the MSI, I get the exact same error.

Also, the article listed by Vivian applies to systems where the agent was previously installed. It has never been installed on this server before, and there is no GUID in the registry related to System Center Operations Manager 2007.

Does anyone else have any ideas about how to resolve this?

Check the following registry key and ensure it is imported.
HKLM\System\Currentcontrolset\services\eventlog\application\esent.
Normally with these errors this key is missing.
If that doesn't fix it let us know,

Thanks Neo, That solved the problem for me. I added the Esent key from a working server with the Agent installed.
