I used server 2008. I have one excel file. When i was cut and past it in another folder on D drive, it short cut is created and it original file is not found in documents folder. I trying to recover it with recovery S/W but failed in theat. In short cut the Target path is displayed but pop up occurs with Path is wrong. How can i recover that file please suggest.

Try to search by pressing function F3 key and find the file on the different drives. Shortcut might be pointing to different file server or different location search that location.
